Mammoth Cave National Park

caveMy passion for national parks started when I visited Mammoth Cave National Park. This beautiful gem, nestled in the heart of Edmonson County, Kentucky, was established as a national park on July 1, 1941. It is also a World Heritage Site, a distinguished honor received in 1981, recognizing its international importance. Mammoth Cave, with over 400 miles of passageways, is the longest known cave system in the world. Visitors to Mammoth Cave can choose from numerous cave tours, as well as miles of overland hiking and biking trails.

I was honored to be a writer of the Simple Solutions Kentucky Studies book. It allowed me to delve into research on Mammoth Cave and explore the history of the cave that was unknown to me when I visited the park.
