Celebrate the Birthday of Dr. Seuss in Your Classroom

Look here; look there; find Dr. Seuss fun everywhere!

Dr. Seuss

Get excited everyone! Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and Read Across America Day are celebrated on March 2nd! Dr. Seuss’ catchy rhymes and fun illustrations never go out of style—they continue to amuse children and adults, year after year. To delight your students this year, the Simple Solutions team has put together a few fun activities that will have your students reading and writing up a storm.

Use our compiled Dr. Seuss Lexile List to find books that match the reading levels of your students. These Lexile measures span kindergarten through fourth grade, so there is sure to be something to meet your students’ levels.

Looking for something other than The Cat in the Hat? Check out our Lesser Known Dr. Seuss List to find some Dr. Seuss stories that may be new to your students. Be sure to check your school or community library for copies of these books, if they are not on your own shelves.

Our downloadable worksheets will work with any Dr. Seuss story. Teach students about word families and stems using our Why do words rhyme?” display slides. Then, have your students explore rhyming with our Word Families Scavenger Hunt or write a report on a Dr. Seuss story with our Oh, the Stories You’ll Read writing prompt.
